Kevin Ross performed well in the study of law and has remained committed to legal education.

 

Kevin received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Iowa with High Distinction, graduating in only two years while collecting numerous additional honors:

He had previously received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa studying broadcast communication and English.

Judge Ross taught as an adjunct professor at the St. Thomas School of Law. And he serves as an ongoing member of the Multistate Essay Examination Drafting Committee of the National Conference of Bar Examiners.

A lover of English, Judge Ross is regularly recognized for the clarity and style of his judicial opinions. He founded the Quill & Bagel Society -- a periodic workshop for judges, law clerks, and staff attorneys committed to honing individual legal-writing skills and maintaining the quality of the court’s opinions. He served seven years as a board member of Scribes: The American Society of Legal Writers. Judge Ross has supervised more than 50 law clerks during his tenure on the bench, many of whom have distinguished themselves as exceptional attorneys in Minnesota and many other states. In 2011, the George Mason School of Law’s Green Bag Almanac & Reader selected him as the first state court jurist to be honored with its award for “Exemplary Judicial Opinion Writer.”
